Realpolitik is a style of behavior or senior administration in a country characterized by basing decision-making on the Hottentot moral («Хоттентотская мораль»).

In simple form, this moral is expressed with the following sentence:

«If we steal from our neighbors, it is good;
if they steal from us, it is bad.»

Realpolitik may provide the short-time advances for a country (say, at the scale from a year to a dozen years) or long-time fancies for several offees who do the Realpolitik - until they are caught and sentenced to the capital punishment with confiscation of property of the relatives, succeeders, accomplices and other beneficiaries of the crime; the offees who do the Realpolitik hope that this does not happen during their life; see «Après moi le déluge».

Etymology and semantics

Term «Realpolitik» appears as junction of two German words, «Real» and «Politik».

This etymology expresses the main idea of Realpolitik, to follow things that seem to be real, touchable «now», without to think about any prudence, justice of far future sequences.

De-facto, term «Realpolitik» appears as a substitute of term «Imperialism» .

The semantic difference between terms «Realpolitik» and «Imperialism» is not revealed, these terms are treated as synonyms.

Since century 20, the Imperialism is recognized to be not so efficient, leading to the crash of the empery.

In the similar sense the Realpolitik appears to be not so «real» and in this sense «wrong» .

However, even after 2022.02.24, term «realpolitik» is still used as qualification of the Russian aggression agaist Ukraine, as a substitute of terms «Aggression», «war crime», «state terror», «banditism» . Such a terminology helps the offees of other countries (those who deal with the war crime) to pretend that they are not accomplices of the war crime but also do some kind of «Realpolitik».

However, the permanent liars have not so much power to affect the semantic of the terms they use.

Overview

For consumers of Realpolitik (excluding those who make decisions), the Realpolitik appears as kind of demagogy, dialectics, doublethink, motivated reasoning. On the first glance, the explanations of politicians may look reasonable. However, the attempts to follow the deduction usually just fail.

For example, the reader who does not know some politician, does not know, which military factory owns his or her lover - cannot reveal the reason of war from the explanation based on the Realpolitik politician. Many people cannot explain the sense and the goal of the Full-scale Russian invasion into Ukraine. Since 2024.02.24, the Russian invasion into Ukraine is staled up from the hybrid war to the full-scale invasion, biggest war after the World War II), while they look for the movie in some «realpolitik», «geopolitic», etc. - neither in the financial interests of the directors of the military industry nor in the profits of the directors of the recruiting centers who want to collect bribes from their potential victims.

De-facto, the Realpolitik use the so-called Female logics (independently on the gender of the offee who does and/or promotes the Realpolitik).

Practivally, Realpolitik refers to the Lay of Strongest, «Law of Jungle»: «That who is stronger is right».

Realpolitik does not imply the following any other laws, agreements, conventions, treaties, parts, etc: «What do we care for a memornadum signed many years ago?»

However in the romantic interpretation, even The Law of the Jungle implies some rues; the Realpolitik tries to bypass these rules in order not to break them in explicit way.

In order to stress the unwillnes to follow any international agreements, the Realpolitik avoid using of neutral terms in description of historic events:

The own army is qualified as heroic liberators.
The enemy army are aggressors and terrorists.

At a military conflict or war, the entry of own army to some territory is qualified as liberation.
The entry of enemy country to some territory is qualified as occupation.

Decisions of own government are qualified as wise and noble.
Decisions of enemy government are qualified as stupid and criminal.

The notations above do not depend on circumstances, international agreements; they are the same independently on belonging of the territory to own country of to country of the enemy.

In a little bit exaggerated form, the essence of realpolitik is expressed with the following dialogue:
- Boss, how much is 2 + 2 ?
- Do we sell or do we buy?

Such a principle may look as funny jokes while it is applied to a small shop, money exchange of a restaurant. However, it becomes a catastrophe when applied at the scale of a city, institute or a country.
The Realpolitik implies the hunting for the critics (see picture at right) who insist on some rules having not enough power to force other people to follow these rules.

One more example (also related with arithmetic) is considered in movie «Alternative Math» .
Small Donald insists on his rules and gets great success with this claims. Even the Teacher, upon finding it profitable, accepts the Donald's rule of the «Alternative Math». Such an acceptation can be qualified as Realpolitik. The teacher happened to be bought for 18 thousand dollars.
The movie (loaded in 2017) looks as a forecast of development of the USA for the next dozen years: the true is not requested by the society, and sad sequences are expected as a result of this ignorance .

Realpolitik uses euphemisms instead of already defined terms. This allows the offees to change the meaning of used words dependently on the «real» situation. One of goals of TORI is elaboration of definitions for these euphemisms. Once some term (initially used as euphemism) gets its definition, it is no longer a slang; the term can be used in scientific analysis.

Examples

In years, roughly, 1937-1940, representatives of France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and the USSR had performed the Realpolitik.
It leaded to the World War II. In this animation, Donald hears the Nazi anthem, but instead of going to the basement to get the rifle, he closes the window and covers his head with a blanket. Nazis awake Donald and Donald obeys. He studies book "Mein Kampf" (see the screenshot at right) and works for the Nazis, assembling shells.
En fin, all this turns out to be just Donald's nightmare.
Reaction of the most of Americans to attempts of Annexation of Canada and Annexation of Greenland and the apparent collaboration with the war crime putin look similar to that of the Donald in the animation mentioned: «This is politics, we are not interested in it.»
Among hundreds of millions of Americans, hundreds organize the peaceful protests that do not seem to affect the policies of top U.S. officials.

In art, even radical realpolitik, even in the most barbarian societies, some rules still are oftern assumed.

In «The Jungle Book» by Rudyard Kipling, the pack of wolves basically follow The Law of the Jungle. The question arises as to whether the pack should implement the agreement made about Mowgli 10 years ago, or the pack's promise has no enforceable value. Several wolves like better the last solution (that mean that Shere Khan tiger may eat Mowgli), and the pack happen to be divided (as the people of the USA in 1861).

In the «Cannibal tale», citizens of the savage tribe still have certain rules. For example, it is prohibited to destroy food and it is prohibited to kill enemies in amount that exceeds the need of the tribe in the fresh meat. In Europe and in North America, the wars are observed, and the soldiers kill enemies, but do not eat them. From point of view of the Cannibals, those soldiers and their commanders are barbarians.

In the movie «Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals» , the cannibal tribe still have some religion. Knowledge of this religion helps the protagonist to save her companion form death.

The above seem to be idealizations. In reality at least some fascistic societies have neither religion, nor rules doing Realpolitik: the wish of the dictator replace, substitute both the Law and the religion. The most radical examples of such a Realpolitik are shown by the Lenin-Stalin USSR, the North Korea, the Putin's RF (Moscovia); the dictators in these countries cannot follow ever their own promises.
Activity of Adolf Hitler and his accomplices in 1935-1945 can be qualified as Realpolitik only partially, as they followed some rules: the hitlerites did not attack those pure aryans who remained loyal to Hitler.
Even more difficult is to apply term Realpolitik to activity of the UK and USA. Since year 1940; they fight against the Hitler coalition. As the result, the Western Europe had been liberated from fascism in year 1945 and the Central Europe - in year, roughly, 1990. However, they did not have sufficient democracy for export to the Central, the North and the East Eurasia. It is not clear weather that was possible in the middle of century 20 or not.
Since year 2025, the worries are observed that the Trump's USA may join this Realpolitik set.
